InterContinental New York Barclay, an IHG Hotel

Sustainability & Carbon Neutral

Local Law 97 is one of the most ambitious plans for reducing carbon emissions in the nation. Buildings account for approximately two-thirds of greenhouse gas emissions in New York City. Under this groundbreaking law, most buildings over 25,000 square feet will be required to meet new energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions limits by 2024, with stricter limits coming into effect in 2030.

CCCNYC in collaboration with Ecosystem working closely with the IHG facilities engineering and design teams have been engaged as Local Law 97 subject matter experts. We evaluate, analyze and propose carbon neutral recommendations, including development of alternative green energy use, improvement and or replacement of existing energy production systems, cost / benefit analysis, design and implementation ultimately saving more than $500,000.00 in annual fines.
